HOW DO YOU GET TO THE NEW SALEM COUNTRY OPRY?
JUST FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS!

1. Coming from Springfield, take Illinois State Rt. 97 to the NW toward Havana. The New Salem Country Opry is located approximately 20 miles out of Springfield. As you leave Springfield, you can also follow the signs to the New Salem State Historic Site. The only tricky place is where Rt. 125 goes straight, Rt. 97 turns right at a stop light. Be sure to follow Rt. 97 and you will have no trouble. The Opry is located on the West side (left-hand side) of the road about 1 mile before you get to the park.

2. Traveling South on I-55, take Exit 109 at Williamsville/Petersburg exit to the West. Follow the signs to Athens and the New Salem State Historic Site. As you follow the blacktop from Athens toward the New Salem State Historic Site, you will cross a bridge and come to stop sign at Rt. 97 and Rt. 123. Turn left onto this road, the Historic Site is about ½ mile from your turn. The Opry will be approximately one mile past the entrance to the park.

3. Traveling North on I-55, South of Springfield, take exit to Rt. 36 and I-72 to the West toward Jacksonville. The exit is to the left. Travel only about 3 miles to Rt. 4 and exit Rt. 4 to the North. Travel Rt. 4 past the Wal-Mart complex, White Oaks Mall, and various other restaurant & shopping facilities. Go to Rt. 97 (Jefferson Street) and turn left onto Rt. 97. Following instruction #1 above.

4. Traveling South on Rt. 97 from Havana, follow Rt. 97 through Petersburg. We are located about 3 miles out in the country.

5. Coming from the East on Rt. 123, go into Petersburg to the stoplight (only one in town) and turn left. Rt. 123 turns left and runs along with Rt. 97. Follow this street through town, past the courthouse, Dairy Queen, Subway and on out into the country. We are located about 3 miles out in the country.
